Hello again! I did not, in fact, drop off the face of the earth as you may have thought.
I went back to work.
It was part time for about a month. Then, there was an unexpected opening for a full time postion in the baby room, and my boss offered it to me, along with a raise and more responsibility. Since it didn't take any time away from Lily (I'm her teacher anyway), I decided to take it, even though I didn't really want to at first. Gotta do what you gotta do and all that.
It's actually worked out better than I thought. Now that we go in and leave at the same time, we can carpool to work, and the three of us get to have lunch together every day. I even get to nurse Lily on my lunch break, so I'm still only having to pump two bottles (not that it's an easy job...but at least it's only 2). Plus, it doesn't disrupt Lily's schedule in the middle of the day by me having to stop what we're doing, get her ready, and drive to work.
It is tough balancing everything, though. I give ALL moms props, but especially ones that are working outside the home. I am very fortunate because even though I'm not home during the day to get chores done during naptime, I still get to be with my little girl just as if I was a SAHM. I see now how very hard it is to work all day, come home, try to be the best mommy you can be for two or three hours, and then switch to maid mode.
It also reminds me how important it is to me to be a SAHM one day. I am very, very fortunate that even though I am working, I can be with Lily all day. When we have two children, that won't be the situation and it's just too important to me to miss out on their lives. So, I continue to work hard now in hopes that one day, I can accomplish my goal of stay at home mommyhood.
For now, I'm doing the best I can....and I feel good about that.
