I wanted to start doing those weekly surveys, because now things are getting a little more eventful and I don't want to forget anything!

How Far Along? 27 weeks and 6 days
Baby's Size: About the size of an eggplant and roughly two pounds
Weight gain/loss: Still holding steady at six pounds gained, total.
Best Moment This Week: My job is over! Not that I hated my job--but it's one more hurdle that I've cleared before it's time to move, and before Baby arrives! Less job-related stress means more time for hubby and friends! (Last night we had friends over for pizza, salad, and Harry Potter--first time I've ever seen the movie).
Symptoms: Stuffy nose any time I lay down, shortness of breath, some lower back pain if I've been standing for too long. If I eat a meal and then have to sit immediately after, the pain is nearly unbearable--there is no room in there for anything to go any higher, and I feel like I'm being suffocated!
Food Cravings/ Aversions: Cravings: Fruit, fruit, fruit (fresh, canned, popsicle form--doesn't matter). Chili's chips & salsa.
Aversions: All kinds of meat, excluding steak. Iceberg lettuce. Anything with more than the tiniest amount of herb/spice/garlic seasoning.
What I'm Looking Forward To: Putting together more of the nursery this week, being able to sleep in, and getting the Rhogam shot behind me.
Milestones: Tomorrow I'll reach 7 months...? It's the only significant milestone I can think of this week.

So lately, I've had this wierd thing going on where I can hear my heart beating in my ears constantly. You know how that happens when you're really nervous about something? Mine has been constant for the past two or three days. You would think it means that my blood pressure is high, but it's not. It happens even if I'm sitting perfectly still and resting. I wonder what's up with that?

We got some girl clothes this week! Someone had given us boy clothes awhile ago, and this week our good friends found out they are having a girl. They went through the bag of girl clothes that someone had given them (they were waiting to see if they could use them or not) and then passed them on to us. I didn't pick much, but I did get a few things--so now we have pink and blue items waiting at home for Le Tot. Our baby stash is coming along. I keep looking up wives' tales about gender prediction, just to see if my friends who are having girls fit the "stereotypes," and to see where I fall. My conclusion?

There is an exception to every stereotype. I've had SO many people tell me, "You're having a boy because you're carrying all in front, just like I did when I had my boy." Then there's five more people who say,"No, when I had my boy, I was allll over the place. I was carrying high and in front like you when I had my girl." This scenario goes on for any wives' tale you can throw out--weight gain, acne, cravings, etc.

Everything changes so much throughout pregnancy, anyway. At the beginning, all I could stomach were salty things, and now I much prefer fruit. At the beginning, my skin looked pretty good, and now I'm getting those wierd pregnancy broken blood vessels and dark undereye circles. I'm also more prone to mood swings now than I was in the beginning. If you were to try and pinpoint what the baby is based on my symptoms, it would've changed between now and then.

The old wives' tales are a bunch of hooey--but they're still kind of fun!

  1. I agree about the wives tales. Its fun to think about but there is not much that actually stand up on their own. We had fun looking at them before we found out (and sharing them at the party). I still think that it all depends on the mother and her body. Everyone is so completely different, so why would all pregnancy's be the same?
