The bonus (well, one of them) of being in a house when our baby is born is being able to paint the nursery! My parents kindly painted the nursery area the color I picked (called Grasshopper), and they were going to replace the carpet anyway, because the pink carpeting I picked out when I was 4 is still there and....it's over 20 years old. So now, we have nice, new, plush tan carpeting in the room, too. Our crib was already there, but obviously couldn't be set up until the carpet was replaced. Now that that's done, it's full steam ahead! I ordered the crib mattress last weekend with the gift cards we got from our baby shower, and it arrived today, so it's time to make it look like a baby is coming. I can't wait to move the baby's bookshelf down there so we can put some picture frames, books, and toy bins out. Then it will really help things look like they're coming together.
I was on our Target registry yesterday to add some items, and PEOPLE BOUGHT US THINGS! Squee! Some of the things that were purchased include our mattress protector and crib sheets. I don't know when we'll be receiving these items, but now we have some of the biggies: a carseat, a crib with sheets and blankets, and a nursing pillow. Any time we get a necessity for Baby, it makes me feel a tiny bit more prepared.
Mr. ABC123 keeps trying to tell me that things are going to be fine with the huge doctor's payment we have to make in a few weeks. I don't really believe it yet, but he keeps reassuring me that it isn't "us." He pointed out that since I'm moving down there with no job yet, that make a difference--a two-income family would have two checks to count on, and the bill wouldn't seem nearly so daunting. Not that it helps us come up with the money....but it makes me feel like less of a loser, at least.
