Sort of. It's not quite the same if the baby is still technically with us, is it?
Anyway, the powers that be at the hotel agreed to give Mr. ABC123 Friday and Saturday night off (WHOOHOO!), so we are going away for a night or two. I've loosened up enough to agree to pay for one night in a hotel, but I don't know about two yet. The jury is still out. If the hubby agrees to compromise by bringing food with us so we don't have to pay for every meal, I could probably be persuaded. I mean, I WANT to get away, but part of me is screaming, "Why are you paying money when you can sleep in your apartment, an hour away, for free?!" He does get a very nice discount, so that helps--and he works in a nice hotel, so it's not like we'll be slummin' it in a Motel 6.
It's our babymoon on a budget. Or, perhaps more accurately, our "can't financially afford a babymoon but can't emotionally afford NOT to have one" babymoon.
I am going to try really, really hard to relax and enjoy it. Being tightly wound and all, it's easier just to keep truckin', but life is more fun when you just enjoy the moment.
We have a ton of stuff going on, and yet, not much at all. He has moved on to the second stage of the interview process with one job and is moving into the first stage of the interview process with another. We really don't know where God wants us to be, and both positions would definitely have their challenges, so we're just trying each door til we find one that swings wide open. It does reaffirm to us that we are supposed to move, though--months and months of diddly squat up here, and two job possibilities in our "new" town within a few weeks.
So, he's doing a lot of phone calling and emailing, but we really don't know anything yet. We're still packing up little by little and working on projects at my parents' house to prepare. We're going to paint the baby's makeshift nursery, but we can't do that until my parents move the desk out of my old room, and they're going to replace the carpet, but they can't do any of that until furniture is moved and the walls are painted.....since we're kind of on a timeline, we're trying to help them move that along as much as we can, being two hours away. We've had to go down there to visit a LOT lately, so every time we go, we have boxes in tow. I can imagine this feeling kind of compares to waiting to go into labor--there's a lot to do, and it's big and exciting stuff, but we really can't do anything until events start happening in their own sweet time. Hopefully by this weekend, we will know more.
