I guess it's time to get a belly band. I don't want to spend a lot of money on maternity clothes for work, because I'll only be able to use them for a month or two. I'd rather spend money on the maternity clothes I'll NEED--shorts and cool shirts to keep a big ol' pregnant lady as comfortable as possible in the heat of the Florida summer.
It's so strange. Even though I'm getting a tiny belly, the baby still seems more like a concept than a reality (except for the nausea. That's real). I'm not visibly pregnant, I can't feel the baby move yet (well, not for SURE--although I've felt some twinges that made me wonder)...it seems so odd to think there's a little person in there. This morning, I was singing one of Phoebe's little songs from Friends: "Are you in there, little fetus? In nine (six!) months will you come greet us? I will buy you some Adidas...."
I'm having some major stress about the nursery. Truly--the other night we were working in there, and I had to go lay down because it was so overwhelming. There is SO MUCH STUFF in the nursery (formerly known as the office). I feel like it's going to take us the next six months just to get the stuff out of there and find places for the things we'd like to keep--let alone getting it cleaned out, baby furniture moved in, and decorated. Just writing about it is making my heart rate go up. I feel like it is never going to be finished. I was supposed to have a tutoring job tonight, but I canceled it because last night I was gone from 7 am to 8:30 pm and got nothing done, work-wise OR nursery-wise. I just needed to have some time to get some of my own things done, or I was going to have a panic attack (seriously--they've been so much harder to control with the pregnancy hormones).
I did settle on a carseat, so that decision's made--I want to go with the Chicco Keyfit 30 in Fuego. Great safety ratings, works for a boy or a girl, and not as expensive as the Britax. I was a little disappointed that Chicco doesn't offer any cute patterns like Graco, but I seemed to find better customer reviews for Chicco. The one drawback is that I really want to get a snap-on stroller frame instead of a travel system, but Chicco doesn't make one. I've read that MacLaren and some other companies make compatible frames, but I'd like to try them first. Of course, I'll also be testing out the carseat--if for some reason it's just too heavy and bulky, I'll definitely consider changing. (Or, if I can find one in a "true" green--I saw one online, but don't see it listed as an available pattern for any stores). I'm really excited to be able to start our registry soon!
I got my belly band at Target and it was perfect during and after pregnancy and relatively inexpensive. Old Navy also had some good, comfy summer maternity clothes that weren't too expensive!
