Something really cool happened last night.
Last Sunday, if you remember, I spent the day with my parents and sister. I came downstairs in the morning and my sister was sitting at the kitchen table, obviously upset. I asked her what was wrong, and she told me that she was going to have to drop one of her classes because she couldn't afford the chemistry kit for her class (she's currently getting her certificate in skincare). She didn't want to ask my parents for the money because they've already helped her out a lot, and with my dad having shingles, he hasn't worked in over a month.
Well, I'm really protective of my sister and want to do anything I can to keep her on track...because sometimes she gets a little off track, and it worries the big sister. So, I texted DH and I said that I really felt strongly that we should give her the money. I knew that we didn't have it to give, but I also knew that her staying in this class was REALLY important to her future. So anyway, we gave her the money.
All week long, we've been super frugal because we were now short for the rent money. I don't think we even bought gas. We've been holding our breaths for how this is all going to work out. We've never been in this situation before; where so many unexpected bills have hit us at once (the MMA, the doctor, the car repair, etc.). Last night, I went to Bible study again and we always start out by sharing prayer requests and then praying silently for a few minutes. One of the girls spoke up and said that she would pray for me and my doctor's appointment (I didn't tell them what it was for, and I didn't say anything about the money situation). In the middle of praying, she got up and went to her car. I thought it was strange, but she's getting married next weekend and I thought maybe she was getting an important call (she has a lot of out-of-town guests). I didn't think any more of it. So we carried on with the study, and I got up to leave. She said, "Oh, I'll walk you out." I figured she just wanted to give me some words of comfort.
That's when she reached into her Bible and said, "When I was praying for you, I just felt led to give you this," and hands me something.
It was a check for the exact same amount that we had given to my sister.
