Who's The Bigger Baby?

Today I stayed home sick from work. Working with a room full of babies means that a fever keeps me home, so I don't get the little ones sick. I was feeling pretty yucky--lots of sinus pressure, chills and hot flashes from fever, and nausea. I felt pretty shaky most of the morning, and I can't lie. It was not easy trying to keep up with an eight month old when all I wanted to do was lie on the couch. She, naturally, wants to get into everything that she's not supposed to, and doesn't have a whole lot of room to play downstairs, which is where I had set up camp. My mom was gone most of the morning running errands, and I admit, I was counting down the minutes til she got home and I could lay down and rest. Shame on me. Most people don't have anyone around to help!

I am in big, big trouble when we want to have another baby....especially if I get as sick as I did the first time.  Granted, Lily won't be eight months old at that time, but to me that just means that she'll be able to get into even more stuff.

Sigh. I'd better toughen up.

In other news, Lily is coming along with finger foods. I let her try Cheerios because the banana and avocado were too slippery, and she did quite well. Tonight, I gave her a few small pieces of the organic chicken I roasted a few days ago, and she did well with those too. I just can't believe how big she is, and how grown she is starting to look. She still waffles between 6 and 9 month clothes, although 6 month jammies with footies are totally out, because my girl is tall and can't straighten her legs in them anymore. Sad.

I am feeling a little frustrated with her sippy cups, though. We've offered her two kinds--the Nuby with handles and the Tommee Tippee cup. The Nuby has no stopper, but the tops are REALLY tough to get anything out of. We have tried turning the cup upside down and squeezing it ourselves, and can't get anything out. We give her the Tommee Tippee without the stopper in, and it just pours all over her....but she can't get anything out with the stopper in it, and just uses it as a chew toy. I don't want to invest a small fortune in sippy cups, but I want her to get the hang of it. As much as it pains me to admit, we have 3 1/2 months before she has to be off the bottle. In the one year old room at school, they're exclusively on sippy cups. Whether she ends up in the one year old room or not (another post for another time), I still want her to be able to use the sippy cup.
