The past few days, I have felt just dreadful. Sluggish, weak, headache, heartburn....if I didn't know better, I would think I was pregnant again. Getting pregnant takes energy, though, so I'm certain it's not that. More than likely, it's just your garden variety "overworkitis."
I'm working on eating a balanced diet already, since I'm breastfeeding. I'm paying attention to my sugar intake in particular, since I NEED energy without a sugar crash. I've pretty much cut out soda, except for when I have a headache and need a kick of caffeine. I've also pretty much cut out artificial sweetner. Unfortunately, I just don't feel enough of a difference, so I'm thinking about doing something a bit more drastic.
I'm considering juicing. I know that I can't do it exclusively because of breastfeeding, but I'm considering doing it for one meal a day--perhaps breakfast. I know that technically, it's not the same thing. At this point, I think that anything I'm doing to increase my intake of fruit and vegetables is a positive step, and breakfast can easily become loaded with sugar and carbs, especially when I have to eat it on the go. Bagels, dry cereal, and muffins are usually my go-tos. I'm not about to make eggs at 5 am--I usually have 20 minutes to get ready before I feed Lily, and I pump one side while I feed her on the other, so I don't have a free hand to eat with and I take my food with me.
I'm a little worried about the cost, although fruits/ veggies are coming into season and it shouldn't cost that much more than buying prepackaged processed food. I have to go grocery shopping this Saturday, so if I have the time to do the research between now and then, I might do it next week and report back with my findings!
