It is NOT a bruised rib.
Booyah.
My doctor is quite sure it is not a bruised rib because she did quite a bit of poking and prodding and asking, "Do you have pain here? What about here?" before proclaiming that if my rib was bruised, I would've come off the table with as hard as she was pressing.
It is my gallbladder.
She said that she doesn't feel any gallstones and it really doesn't even feel enlarged, so just continue to stick to my low-fat diet of mainly fruits and veggies, but to be even more strict about it (fatty foods = gallbladder attacks). Even healthy foods with high fat contents (cheese, butter, peanut butter, nuts, etc.) can trigger the pain. She thinks it may resolve itself once the baby isn't pressing on it anymore, but she did warn me that if I experienced any nausea or severe pain, to go to the ER right away. She would also like me to have a liver function test (which is really just bloodwork) at the same time as my glucose test, and she wants it done within a week so that we can discuss it at my regular appointment next Tuesday.
While we were there, we did get to hear the heartbeat again--still in the 150s! I was also curious as to how much weight I have gained altogether, because although they weigh me every time I'm there, they never say "Oh, you've gained x pounds." I said, "Um, I might be afraid to hear this, but could you tell me how much weight I've gained so far?" She scanned through my chart once....then again...then again.
She goes, "Oh, you've gained about six pounds."
SIX?! That's it? That is so much better than I thought! Now, that's from my starting weight, not from my lowest weight after I was so sick (so total, I've gained 16 from my lowest point, but even that is normal). She told me that ideally she'd like to see me gain a little more, but that will be hard since my diet is pretty restricted now. She said I have a nice baby bump and that's what's most important.
Other than the gallbladder thing, it sounds like everything is going well! She was even pleased with my blood pressure, which was pretty surprising, because I don't see how it's not through the roof between school, Scentsy, packing up my classroom, packing up my apartment, trying to get things ready at my parents' house, gathering baby items, etc.
Glad to hear you got some answers!!!!
