Oh man...remember back in middle school, when the highlight of a Friday night was TGIF on ABC? I loved "Boy Meets World." Cory and Topanga....Shawn Hunter...Mr. Feeny...who doesn't love that? It was like "Friends" for the pre-teen/teenage crowd. (Plus, I just have to say that I still totally applaud the fact that Cory and Topanga waited to have sex until they were married. You don't see that on a show anymore....).
Thanks to the magic of TV reruns, I've been watching old episodes of the show. I dunno why, but the hubs and I just can't seem to get enough! I remember watching the show back when it was new, and I was just waiting to find "my" lifelong love and a group of best friends that did everything together. For awhile, I thought that I really was going to end up in my own Cory and Topanga, high school sweetheart kind of relationship....but that's another post. I always felt like I was missing out on something because I didn't have friends attached to my hip.
Yeah, I got older, and I realized a few things. First of all...pretty much nobody's life is actually like that and the number of friends I had/ have is fine. Secondly, sometimes people who get together when they're 15 don't stay together because they get older and become different people.
So, I know it's just a TV show and this makes me really pathetic, but I still feel all mushy when Cory and Topanga break up and reconnect again, and I still think Shawn Hunter's pretty cute. =) I guess there's just some things you don't outgrow!
